No Extraordinary Circumstances

Events such as severe weather, political unrest, or security issues are considered beyond the airline's control, which emancipates them from paying compensation. However, if flight cancellation is caused by the airline, they are obligated to provide compensation.

No Suitable Alternative Flight Offered

If SunExpress didn't offer you an alternative flight departing and arriving within specific time limits compared to the original, they must compensate you. However, if an alternative was offered, compensation is not required.

When am I entitled to SunExpress denied boarding compensation?

You might be entitled to SunExpress denied boarding compensation if you were denied boarding by the airline due to overbooking or operational reasons, and you do not voluntarily gave up your seat, providing that:

You arrived at the airport on time for check-in and boarding.

You have a confirmed reservation and met all travel requirements.

The flight is departing from an EU airport, or landing at an EU airport and operated by EU airline.

If these conditions are met, and you were denied boarding due to no fault of your own, SunExpress must provide compensation under EU Regulation 261/2004, typically ranging from €250 to €600 depending on the flight distance.

When am I entitled to SunExpress lost or damaged baggage compensation?

You may claim compensation for baggage that is lost, damaged, or delayed by the airline. You can file a compensation request under the following conditions:

Lost Baggage: If your checked baggage is lost, SunExpress has a duty to pay compensation under the Montreal Convention. If your baggage has not been located within 21 days after your flight, it is officially considered lost, and you are entitled to file a claim for compensation.

Damaged Baggage: If your checked baggage is damaged during transit, you must report the damage immediately upon arrival at the airport by filling out a Property Irregularity Report (PIR). After that, we can submit a formal claim to SunExpress for damaged baggage compensation within 7 days after the repot.

Delayed Baggage: If your baggage is delayed, you can ask SunExpress to cover the cost of essential items you need while waiting for your luggage. Compensation is determined based on the specific circumstances of the delay.

Compensation is generally limited under the Montreal Convention, up to approximately 1,288 Special Drawing Rights (around €1,500), depending on the value of your baggage and contents.
