European Flight Compensation Rights (EU261/2004)
Under EU Regulation 261/2004, passengers are entitled to compensation if their flight is delayed, canceled, or overbooked, provided the airline is responsible. Compensation amounts depend on flight distance:
- €250 (up to 1,500 km)
- €400 (1,500–3,500 km)
- €600 (3,500+ km, non-EU flights)
Passengers also have rights to refunds, rerouting, and care (meals, accommodation). Exceptions apply for extraordinary circumstances (e.g., weather, security issues).
